Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them few options but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.

Viewers can anticipate learning which players will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
